Welcome to Walnut Ridge Horses

Walnut Ridge Farm in Urbana is home to Maryland's first registered Drum horse, Genivee. We also welcome our first Gypsy Cob, Royal Lady (photo) The Drum horse is a tall athletic heavy riding horse. Genivee's sire is Chew Mill Guinness (registered GCDHA Drum Horse) of Old Mill Farm in Uniontown, PA. Her dam is Ms Bonny Lass (GCDHA Gypsy Cob), also from Old Mill Farm. The purpose of the Drum horse is to develop the quintessential heavy riding horse whose bloodlines are from the Gypsy Cob, Shire, Clydesdale and Fresian. The ideal Drum horse has a calm disposition, profuse feathering and pinto markings reminiscent of ancient Drum Horses used by HRM the Queen of England's calvary. They are bred to be athletic and to excel in a variety of ridden and driven disciplines.
